Terms of service
Last updated April 27, 2026.
Plain-English summary
MapProof is a software service for contractors. Use it for legitimate proof-of-work documentation. Don't upload content you don't have rights to. Don't try to break the service. We do our best to keep it running, but software isn't perfect — there are limits on what we can promise.
Your account
You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. Activity that happens through your account is treated as yours. Tell us right away if you think someone else has access.
You must be at least 18 (or the age of legal contract in your jurisdiction) to create an account. MapProof is built for business use.
Your content
Photos, videos, project data, and notes you upload are your content. You own it. We don't claim copyright over any of it.
You grant MapProof a limited license to host your content for the purpose of running the service — storing it, serving it back to you, and serving it on the share links and public portfolio pages you explicitly enable. That license ends when you delete the content or close your account.
You're responsible for having the right to upload the content you upload. If a customer hasn't consented to having photos of their property made public via your portfolio page, don't set the project to Sold and add an After photo (which is the gate that puts a project on the public portfolio).
Acceptable use
Don't use MapProof to:
- Upload content you don't have rights to.
- Document anything illegal, harmful, harassing, or deceptive.
- Try to break, scrape, reverse-engineer, or DDoS the service.
- Work around technical limits (storage caps, share-link token controls, etc.).
- Resell, sublicense, or white-label MapProof without a written agreement with us.
We can suspend or close accounts that break these rules. We'll explain why if we do.
Service availability
We aim to keep MapProof running. We don't guarantee perfect uptime — software has bugs, hosting providers have outages, and we're a small team. We'll be transparent about any extended outage and refund or credit your account if we're ever in a paid plan and downtime is on us.
We'll give reasonable notice before any breaking change to the API, the share-link format, or anything else you might depend on.
Pricing & billing
MapProof is currently free during beta. If/when paid plans launch, we'll email account holders before any charges happen, and you'll have the option to keep using the free / beta tier or move to a paid plan. We won't convert your free account into a paid one automatically.
Termination
You can close your account at any time by emailing us from the address on file. We'll delete your data and confirm.
We can close an account that's violating these terms. If we do, we'll explain what happened and offer a chance to download your data first when practical.
No warranty / limitation of liability
MapProof is provided “as is”, without any warranties — express or implied — including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
To the extent allowed by law, MapProof is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost revenue, profit, or data, arising out of your use of the service. Total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you've paid us in the 12 months before the claim — which during beta is $0.
Changes to these terms
We'll update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page when we change something. For meaningful changes, we'll email account holders before the change takes effect. Continued use after a change means you accept the new terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the state of Florida, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Disputes go to the state or federal courts located in Palm Beach County, Florida.
